So what am I working on? What have I got in floating around in my head which I want to see out on screen? Well I’m going to tell you. But first lets just cover a couple of things.
This week has been one hell of a week. Work has been super busy, assigned to new task force which is mind numbing with its complexity and after 2 weeks of waiting, I have finally heard back on a role that I went for within the business. The answer was a no. It doesn’t overly bother me that it was a no, as I have a number of contacts within the organisation who kept me on the lowdown throughout the process. I knew it was a no before the no came from the recruiting manager. It is one of my weaknesses, I need to stay in the know about all things that directly affect me. I am a man who likes to have the information on hand. So while the no wasn’t a shock or surprise, I can’t help but feel the rejection.
The second thing that has been playing on my mind more than it should this week is the news that an ex of mine has cancer. You know the cancer that people get over? Well that’s not the kind of cancer that shes got. Ok that was cliche. But the thing is, I don’t know why it has been playing on my mind at all. Call me a douche if you will but I was the one that ghosted her after a 5 year relationship and a difficult breakup. Actually I don’t know why I just had to qualify the breakup by calling it difficult. All breakups are difficult to a degree. Anyway this was 11 years ago, 10 since I ghosted her, and now I find she has cancer and a very low survival rate. I have put it down to the fact that even though I no longer care for her as a friend, I care for her as a person going through what she has to go through. I wish her the best of luck in the coming months in her fight to get well again.
So back to what this blog post was going to be about. What stories are going round my head at the moment. So here they are, not all of them have names and even the ones that do are subject to change as I work to develop them.
Witchkin Chronicles – Set in a world that I am developing as part of this series, this is a High Fantasy story which follows a group of unlikely adventurers as they battle to save one of there own against the plans of a desperate man. This story I have been developing over the past 6 months or so and this website is my commitment in an attempt to get something out there.
The Ouroboros Campaign – This is my Warhammer 40k fan fiction based on my Dark Angels army. One day I would like to get it to a place where I can submit it to the Black Library for review and possible publication. The Story follows a Demi-Company Master Khrious El’Lion (Surprise Surprise) after he and his men end up stranded after their strike cruiser is caught up in a Warp storm and sent adrift. While seeking assistance they uncover and begin hunting a suspected Chaos Space marine war band, all the while being hunted themselves by a fallen inquisitor out to clear his name.
The YA novel series from 15 years ago – I stumbled across a fair amount of notes that I had written down around an idea that I had in my teen years. Originally I thought that it would make a great full book, however a young adult series would suit it better. The story is kinda a fantasy mixed with science fiction where a group of teens find themselves caught up in a cross dimensional fight for the fate of the world. After a significant celestial event, the teens must band together, master their new found abilities and themselves before time runs out.
So that is the top 3 ideas I have at the moment. I also am working on a couple of back stories for my Pathfinder characters for an upcoming campaign. We are going to be running the “Blood and Shackles” campaign and have been asked to come up with 3 character ideas of which the GM will chose 1. From there we are to build a back story. The ideas that I have come up with are:
- A Halfling or Gnome pirate rogue: thinking of taking halfling and replacing some of the racial traits with ones like underfoot and the one about attacking people bigger than you. Two weapon fighting rogue who is quick witted and a little snarky and LOVES the ladies! Would be equipped with two shortswords, ok so not the biggest damage dealer but is quick to get around the boats and be where others need him to be.
- A full blooded Orc sea reaver (barbarian arch type). A Huge Bulking mass of a humanoid who carries a large axe. Impossibly strong, undeniably fierce, the scars on his face and bare forearms openly tell a story of a life hard lived.
- A Undine Aquatic Druid: There would need to be a bit of tweaking to ensure that there is no doubleup of abilities between Race, Archtype and Domain (Aquatic). Captured as a child and held by a pirate captain as a trophy of good luck as a “cabin boy” right up until a series of bad luck saw the captain loose his ship, mind and most of his crew and finally his life. The crew, becoming superstitious of the young woman thought it would anger the gods further if they just “got rid” of her, thus are looking to sell her as good luck trophy to at least appease the pirate gods.
I like to design characters who have a fun personality rather than power play.
Anyway till next time.
